Pitcher Over Pot: Homemade Iced Tea

Tea is one of my favorite drinks! Having been on vacation in Florida recently, I had to substitute my usual hot pot of tea (because it’s -18 at home) for a pitcher of iced tea. It’s as satisfying – yet more refreshing – than water. Reminiscing about the sunshine while I am surrounded by snow, I thought I’d share the delicious iced teas I tried (and loved) this holiday. Here are 3 of my favorites:

Sweet Lemon Iced Tea

  • 4 lemons, juiced
  • 4 lemons, sliced
  • 10 black tea bags
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

The Peach Palmer

  • 1 cup white peach syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups lemonade
  • 5 black tea bags
  • 1/4 sugar

Cool Mint

  • 3 black tea bags
  • 3 peppermint tea bags
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • fresh mint, garnishment

For each recipe boil 8 cups of water. Using a heat proof pitcher, place the tea bags in the pitcher and pour in the boiling water. Allow the tea to steep for approximately 10-15 minutes before removing the tea bags. After removing the tea bags, add the remaining ingredients of the recipe to the pitcher. Refrigerate until cold! Then serve!
